There’ll be plenty of new faces at Markets field this year with some familiar ones also returning for 2025

With just over a week until their season opener against Cobh Ramblers on February 14, Treaty United have bolstered their squad with the announcement of several new signings.

Recently the club have announced the signings of Ben Lee, Joe Hanson, Vojtěch Ptáček, Connor Wilson, Dean Owens, Ben Lynch, and Valerii Dolia. The announcements have come alongside the return of Galway United duo David Tarmey and Steven Healy on loan along with the players who have returned from last season.

The signing that has drawn the most excitement among supporters is forward Joe Hanson. It was announced that former Vancouver Whitecap, Hanson would join the club after an impressive trial period which included a goal and an assist in a recent friendly win over Sligo Rovers.

Speaking to Treatyunited.com, Hanson said: I’m very excited to be signing with Treaty United, I think that it will be a great fit for me and will be an environment I can thrive in. I’m very grateful for the opportunity that Tommy and Ciara are giving me, and I honestly can’t wait for the season to start and to play in front of our fans at the Markets Field!”

Also joining Hanson at the Limerick club are fellow Canadians Ben Lee and Connor Wilson. Born in South Africa and holding dual citizenship with Canada,18-year-old midfielder Lee is signing for the club on a multi-year deal following an impressive trial period where he scored against Cork City and Galway United. Capable of playing as a striker, attacking midfielder, and left winger, Wilson brings experience of playing club football in both Canada and New Zealand.

Blending the new Canadian influx with League of Ireland experience, the club has also brought in Valerii Dolia and Ben Lynch.
26-year-old winger Dolia will be well known among Kerry FC and Athlone Town supporters having lined out for the clubs in previous seasons while 23-year-old Lynch is a versatile defender capable of playing on the left side or in the centre of defence and is joining the club after two seasons with Wexford FC. On Lynch’s signing manager Tommy Barrett told Treatyunited.com, “Ben is another good addition that strengthens our backline as he is capable of playing centre back and left back. Ben is a very good athlete and is defensively minded, he has a great attitude and is experienced for his age in the league.”

The last of the new signings are forwards Vojtěch Ptáček and Dean Owens. A Czech native, Ptáček plied his trade with Pike Rovers after coming to Ireland to study and is now moving up to League of Ireland level with Treaty. Owens, meanwhile, has experience at the U20 level with Bray Wanderers and is also making the step up to senior League of Ireland level with the Limerick based club.

Despite not yet announcing their full squad for the 2025 season, Treaty have announced the re-signing of a number of notable players from last year. This includes Lee Devitt, Lee J Lynch, Mark Walsh, and goalkeeper Corey Chambers as well as talented young players in Mark Byrne, Richkov Boevi, and Nikodem Kozlowski.

The club continues their pre-season preparations with a trip to Waterford on Friday, February 7, for the Munster Senior Cup quarter-final before their season opener at home to Cobh Ramblers on Friday, February 14 (7.45pm KO, Markets Field).
