Final league game also sees Enda Curran depart after three years at Treaty United.

Treaty United face the long-haul journey to Donegal to take on Finn Harps this Friday, in what will be their final League of Ireland First Division game of the season.

The 7:45pm kick off will bring to a close what has been a difficult season for the Shannonsiders, in which they missed out on their goal of finishing in a promotion play-off position.

Despite finishing below expectations, there have been plenty of positives this season for Tommy Barrett’s men, including a much welcome boost in average home attendance figures.

Headed by CEO Ciara McCormack, the new ownership group of Tricor Pacific have made great strides in improving the atmosphere around Treaty United this season.

Playing in Limerick soccer’s iconic blue this term, United kicked off their season with an impressive 3-1 victory over Cobh Ramblers at the Markets Field. The ‘Fill the Field’ campaign pushed by the club’s media team saw great crowds turn out in Garryowen, as the Shannonsiders went unbeaten in their first five games.

Coincidentally, that unbeaten streak was snapped by Friday’s opponents, Finn Harps, who themselves have failed to finish in the top five this season, mathematically guaranteed a sixth placed finish regardless of their final result.

The Ballybofey-based outfit are winless in their last four games, losing 3-1 to Wexford FC last time out. By contrast, Treaty are unbeaten in their last four and should come into the tie as slight favourites.

Friday’s clash will of course be the fourth and final meeting between the pair this term, with the record reading in favour of Harps, who have gotten the better of the Limerick side twice this season.

The last time the side’s locked horns was in July, when Enda Curran’s penalty saw the hosts take all three points at the Markets Field.

The Galway native and Treaty sharpshooter announced on Wednesday that he will be leaving the Limerick club, having spent three memorable years in Garryowen. United’s record goalscorer netted 46 times in 78 appearances.
