LIMERICK GAA has issued a statement confirming disciplinary action has commenced against two members of the senior hurling panel after an incident in New York last weekend.
A video emerged on social media on Saturday of a Limerick player involved in an altercation on the street in New York while the squad were in the US taking part in the New York Hurling Classic.
It is understood the second man in the video is also from Limerick but is not a member of the panel, but a fan that had travelled over for the weekend.
The panellist, as well as another squad member who is believed to have videoed the incident, were sent home early from the trip.
They arrived into Dublin Airport Monday morning after an early flight home was arranged for the pair.
The Limerick GAA statement said: “Limerick GAA expects the highest standards of behaviour and example, both on and off the field, and will not tolerate any breach of those standards.
“A disciplinary process has commenced and there will be no further comment in relation to this matter.”
