Tommy Barrett’s men head into contest against Cobh Ramblers with plenty of new faces
Treaty United return to league action on Friday night against a Cobh Ramblers side with a new manager in Mick McDermott. Both sides finished on 44 points last season – Treaty finishing in seventh, one spot ahead of Cobh on goal difference – but are set to carry new expectations for the 2025 campaign.
The game takes place at Markets Field at 7:45pm.
The sides had varying fortunes in their last competitive outings on February 7, with Treaty being knocked the Munster Senior Cup at the hands of Premier Division Waterford 4-2. Cobh dispatched of Cork City in their cup derby, progressing with a 2-1 victory courtesy of a late winner from David Bosnjak.
The Shannonsiders have added a considerable number of new faces to their ranks, with plenty of overseas talent from the U.S and Canda. Karl O’Sullivan is a proven talent in the league, signing for the club on February 9, but the impact of imports like Ben Lee, Connor Wilson and Eóin Martin remains to be seen.
They will be joined by familiar faces like Lee J Lynch, Lee Devitt and Yoyo Mahdy from 2024.
Treaty started the last season brilliantly, unbeaten in their first five with three wins, and will be hoping to replicate that kind of form this season. They happened to beat their upcoming opponents 3-1 on the previous league opener, with the now departed Thomas Considine scoring twice.
The Rams have bolstered their squad with plenty of names from their county rivals Cork City. The likes of Barry Coffey, Cian Coleman and Cian Bargary played big roles in City’s dominant title winning season and will have the same aims with a different Cork-based club this year.
A win over Cobh would be a statement of intent for Tommy Barrett and his side, as The Rams are expected to challenge for the title this season.
For those meaning to attend the game, tickets can be bought here. If you’re unable to attend but still plan on watching the game, LOITV will be showing a stream that starts at 7:15pm.
