United seek back-to-back wins for the first time since mid-June
After a stunning performance away at St Colmans Park, Treaty United face Longford Town who travel Markets Field this Friday. It’s the Shannonsiders’ third game in seven days, with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Athlone Town prefacing the Cobh Ramblers fixture.
Longford also picked up a 3-0 win in their last fixture, at home to fifth-place Wexford to pick up only their fifth league win. An Adeyemo brace – including his stunning free-kick – was accompanied by a Danny Norris goal.
Longford are looking to win two consecutive First Division games for the first time this campaign. Treaty have only accomplished that same feat twice – winning all of their opening three games, before later in the season beating Wexford on June 13, six days prior to a win over Bray Wanderers.
Tommy Barrett is facing several selection headaches, with Leon Kirrane and Colin Conroy both departing the game against the Rams early. Chambers remains suspended, and the likes of Enda Curran, Ben O’Riordan and Fionn Doherty are others that could be doubtful for Friday.
They’ll have to rely on their youth.
Nikodem Kozlowski, scored his first goal for the Limerick men on Monday night – will come to the forefront against the Midlanders. Alec Byrne is a great technical player in the middle of the park, and Richkov Boevi has looked comfortable alongside Evan O’Connor in the heart of Tommy Barrett’s back four.
The main man from Monday, Lee Devitt, will seek to become the star-player again after his wonderfully taken two-goal haul against Cobh. A stellar box-to-box midfielder, his performance will be key to any chance of success for Treaty.
While results have not gone their way, Longford have a number of threats and players with the ability to cause issues for Treaty.
Bastien Hery is a masterful midfield technician, Adam Wixted can be exciting off either wing and Jordan Adeyemo will look to add to his nine goals this season.
