The new Limerick Voice editorial team have celebrated their launch with an innovative video showcasing students working remotely.
Limerick Voice is a digital news project run by journalism students in the University of Limerick.
The Limerick Voice 2020/21 team have today unveiled a new logo and mission statement to accompany their fresh start.
Digital Editor Mike Finnerty said: “We’re out to create a news website that’s the first port of call for the Limerick region. There’s always a million and one stories to be told.”
The mission statement for Limerick Voice 2020/21: “When Limerick speaks, we listen”, illustrates the connection the new Limerick Voice team want to create with their community.
This is the first time the news project will run throughout the academic year, as opposed to the usual 10 weeks.
Some of the highlights to watch out include the following new series:
- ‘For Limerick, Buy Limerick’ aimed at promoting local businesses
- #InOurHands, a regular series on frontline workers
- Unheard Limerick Voices – regular feature on Limerick’s marginalised communities
