Irish marathon champion Ava Crean is set to swap medals for masks this evening as she leads Limerick’s Halloween Night Run, the headline event of Twilight Thursdays’ October 30 frighteningly frantic schedule.

The 19-year-old Raheen native, fresh from her standout performance at the Irish Life Dublin Marathon, will officially start and take part in the 5km fancy dress run. It kicks off at 8.00 this evening, from King John’s Castle Plaza. Crean, who represents the Back 2 Boston Running Club, made national headlines last weekend after clocking her personal best time of 2:34:12. She finished as the top Irish woman in the marathon.

The night promises to bring together hundreds of runners in costumes for an evening that blends fitness, fun, and a touch of fright. Only 500 spots are available, so if you fancy your chances against Limerick’s finest, join the race before it vanishes into the night. You can click here to secure your spot.

The Night Run is just one of Thursday evening’s spooky spectacles with events and offers set to light up the city. They range from live performances and workshops to spooky film screenings and community art sessions.

The Milk Market will host family-friendly festivities with treats and plenty of Halloween surprises in store. Meanwhile Wickham Way will transform into a vibrant Día de los Muertos celebration honouring Mexican art and music. Film lovers can also brave a Frightful Film Night at Lumen HQ.

What better way to spend Halloween than indulging in all things eerie? Renowned psychic Minnie Michaels presents a night of candlelit connections from 7:30 pm at Angel Times, while Escape Limerick is also open late this Twilight Thursday.

Art enthusiasts can take part in the Community Canvas mural workshop, whilst storyteller Myles Breen returns to his native Limerick to O’Mahony’s Booksellers for an evening of spooky tales in a cosy, candlelit setting.
