American indie folk band Big Thief are bringing their ‘Somersault 360’ tour to Dolan’s Warehouse on April 28.
Presale tickets go on sale today at 2pm and general tickets are available from 10am tomorrow morning.
The band currently have 5.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
They are set to perform at the 3Arena in Dublin the following night. Big Thief’s latest album, Double Infinity, was released in September and was featured on Hot Press’ Top 50 Best Albums list.
Mark Carey, Owner of steamboat music in Limerick city who was instrumental in securing the gig is really excited to welcome Big Thief to Limerick.
“They have been an integral part of what we consider the soundtrack of our store for a long time. When we heard they were coming to the 3 arena we bought tickets as soon as we could. Then we had the crazy idea of trying to bring them to Limerick. So what started as a simple email we sent to their PR agent, resulted in a team up with the fantastic Seoda Shows and Dolan’s to bring them for an intimate show the night before the 3 arena”.
Limerick native John Hegarty, who has been a devoted fan of Big Thief, said “Big Thief coming to Limerick was the biggest plot twist I never saw coming and I am definitely going to get a ticket. Simulation Swarm has been my favourite song of all time since the moment I heard it.”
The 3-piece band comprises of Adrianne Lenker (lead singer), Buck Meek (guitarist), and James Krivchenia (drummer). Big Thief was formally a four-piece band, but bassist Max Oleartchik departed in 2024.
They rose to fame after their debut album “Masterpiece”, which was released in 2016, and their song “Velvet Ring” gained traction on TikTok. They also released their popular single “Vampire Empire” in July 2023.
Big Thief have been nominated for many awards over the past few years. They most recently received Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Album in 2020 and 2023.
Adrianne Lenker last came on tour to Ireland in 2024 on a solo tour, after releasing her album “Bright Future” which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album. Buck Meek also toured Ireland in earlier this year after releasing his solo album “Haunted Mountain.”
Dolans has hosted many major international artists over the last few years such as The National, Patti Smith and many more. Most recently Dolan’s were awarded the IMRO Live Music Venue of the year in 2024.
Many well-known Irish artists have performed at the Limerick venue including Hozier, Kojaque, and Biig Piig.
