A night of ‘ceol agus craic’ is promised at The Commercial, this Thursday, the 16th of October.

Limerick musicians are fundraising for Catherine Connolly’s presidential campaign ahead of the election in late October.

Performing on the night are folk punk act Shroomie, emo singer songwriter Eoin Ryan, newcomers Nósanna Neamhspleácha, and the eclectic Codeye.

Shroomie will open playing his rough, deeply personal songs. Lathered in clown makeup, the artist will also be performing later as the lead singer of Codeye.

Eoin Ryan will perform his gut-wrenching emo melodies featuring some new songs from his upcoming EP. Eoin entered the Limerick scene as bassist for the punk band ’50 Foot Woman’ and currently performs with local group BitCrush.

Nósanna Neamhspleácha will follow and perform accompanied by a violinist and harpist.

The headline act is Codeye, who will take to the stage for their first gig in Limerick since 2022. Following their sweaty performance at the Merton Toad Fest this summer in Southampton, they are looking forward to playing on their home turf.

Catherine Connolly, the first woman to hold the position of Leas-Ceann Comhairle, has received backing from Sinn Féin, the Social Democrats, the Labour Party, the Green Party, People Before Profit, and several other independent members of the Oireachtas. The fundraiser, organised by LimerickForConnolly, is appealing for volunteers to assist with canvassing efforts.

Doors for the event open at 7.  Tickets are donation-based and can be purchased here from the Connolly campaign website.
