Treaty City Brewery walls have been lined with art for Green Ribbon Month exhibition with ‘ABC for Mental Health’ curating their annual Green Ribbon Month Art Exhibition for the 11th year running. The exhibition, that showcases 60 artworks along the Treaty City Brewery walls, aims to “promote a healthy and open attitude to mental health”. The event opened during Limerick’s Culture Night and has been extended, to run until Sunday, October 12th

Amanda Clifford, a Psychotherapist who founded ABC for Mental Health in 2014, has curated this exhibition since her organisations launch. The exhibition aims to be “inclusive instead of exclusive” with a wide range of works by local Limerick artists from both professional and amateur backgrounds. Amanda shared that “Some of the artists can sell their work for €6,000 and others sell their work for €20, it’s all about giving everybody a voice.”

With an aim to communicate through art, the various pieces told stories unique to each artist, each experience and each struggle.  The pieces displayed a polarity, from bright to dark. When asked about the variety in art, Amanda explained that with the theme being mental health, it gives artists a wide range to work with. “It’s everybody’s Mental Health, there’s going to be a wide range because we all see the world in a different way.”

“Most of the pieces are for sale and the money goes directly to the artists” shared Amanda.

“This is our 4th year [running the exhibition] in the Treaty City Brewery, it’s a beautiful space and building. It lends itself very well to the art.”
