Limerick City and County Council has announced details for this year’s Limerick St. Patrick’s Festival, which takes place across five days from Friday, March 13 to Tuesday, March 17.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Legends of Limerick,” celebrating the people, stories and heritage that define our community.
A special highlight this year is the inclusion of a free open-air concert at Arthur’s Quay Park on Monday, March 16, bridging the gap between the energetic weekend and the celebrations on St. Patrick’s Day itself.
The concert, which is open to over-18s only, will host an electrifying lineup of homegrown talent, featuring performances from Major Feen, The Labourers, Citrus Fresh, Hazey Haze and Denise Chaila.
The Limerick City St. Patrick’s Day Parade will form the centrepiece of the festival, led by Grand Marshal Ava Crean, Ireland’s national women’s marathon champion, who will be joined by her Back2Boston running clubmates.
Hundreds of local participants will take part, creating a lively celebration of Limerick’s culture, arts, and community.
Audiences can look forward to the post-parade St. Patrick’s Festival Block Party, which will take place in Arthur’s Quay Park with large-scale performances from the Irish National Clown Orchestra and a spectacular aerial display from Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company.
County parades are also taking place in locations across Limerick from March 15 to 17, reflecting strong community engagement that underpins the annual celebration.
These can be found in Broadford, Kilmallock, Newcastle West, Limerick City, Castleconnell, Hospital, Rathkeale, Adare, Mountcollins, Askeaton, Bruff, Castlemahon, Ballylanders and Abbeyfeale.
A wide range of Irish language and cultural events for adults and children are also taking place across the city and county for Seachtain na Gaeilge from March 1 to March 17, supported by Limerick City and Council, including Irish language cultural days, live music and performance events that celebrate Irish culture, hands-on creative workshops, and a variety of free, family-friendly community activities, all aimed at encouraging people of all ages and language levels to engage with Irish in an enjoyable and inclusive way.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, is looking forward to the festivities, saying:
“The Limerick St. Patrick’s Festival is an opportunity to celebrate Limerick’s people, heritage and community spirit. There is a fantastic programme of events taking place across the county for people to enjoy. The theme ‘Legends of Limerick’ reflects both our history and those who continue to shape Limerick today.”
Limerick City and County Council has announced temporary road closures and parking restrictions on 15 and 17 March 2026 to facilitate the Limerick International Band Championship and the Limerick City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, affecting key city routes including O’Connell Avenue, Quinlan Street, The Crescent, Henry Street, Liddy Street, Cecil Street, and adjoining roads, with closures generally in place from 7am to 3.30pm and parking prohibitions from 3am to 3.30pm on both days.
