Spooky season was in full swing on Saturday as local cartomancer Áine Dinn brought a spectacular evening of tarot reading and cocktails to The Wickham. The experimental event was Áine’s second rendition thus far and went over a treat with the curious crowd.

“I’m really happy with it. It is growing on its own, which I’m so glad about. I have great conversations, whether people are curious or emotional and want the help. I just love making the connections I do,” she revealed.

The night of banter and breakthroughs ran from 7 pm to 12 am, with dozens of eager attendees lining up to receive a reading and claim their cocktail. Speaking early in the night, the tarot reader gushed over the recent success of her brave venture.

“The first event of my own that I held, about five people came, and honestly about four of them were my friends. I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to take it in my stride.’ And now, I’ve had about 16 people so far tonight,” she said proudly.

Tarot reading is a time-honoured form of reflection that explores one’s spirituality through symbolic cards. The hobby attracts those who are genuinely curious about the world, like Áine, who has been fascinated by mysticism from an early age.

“There’s always been crystals and cards around the house. I’ve just grown up with it. If my mom was looking for a car parking space, she’d say, ‘Please guardian angels, get us a parking space.’ I just grew up with it,” she reminisced.

At just 23 years old, Dinn has been practising tarot reading for 4 years. Having witnessed the impact of such resonant revelations, she insists that the eye-opening experience can be beneficial to all walks of life.

“I think it can be so validating. Some people have come to me after they’ve quit a really bad job or broken up with someone, and the cards that come out can show you’ve made the right choice,” Dinn recalls.

Following the success of October’s outing, this Limerick woman hopes to make these events a regular occurrence. Another exciting night of readings and cocktails is scheduled for the 26th of November at The Wickham, with tickets available here.
