Gardaí investigate fraud allegations at Limerick Credit Union

The investigation is said to involve hundreds of thousands of euro

Gardaí have launched an investigation after the alleged misappropriation of hundreds of thousands of euros from a Credit Union in Limerick.

Gardaí have confirmed to the Limerick Voice that they received a report of an alleged incident of fraud at a financial institution in the region on June 14, 2024.

The investigation is said to be focused on Limerick & District Credit Union, one of the largest in the country. The Credit Union has four branches across Limerick- including Caherdavin, Dooradoyle, William Street and St Patrick’s.

Limerick Voice has contacted the Credit Union in question for more information on the alleged incident, which is said to involve a long-standing employee.

Gardaí have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
