The Limerick City and County Council have announced the closure of roads in accordance with the provisions of the Roads Act 1993.
This allows the council to close or redirect routes so that necessary jobs and activities can be carried out efficiently.
Here are the most recent road closures; some are currently in practice, while others have just been announced.
From 8.30am to 4.30pm, a section of R516 at Milltown, Bruff will be using a Temporary Traffic Management Operation involving temporary traffic lights. This is due to rain drainage work, and the operation is set to finish Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
From January 7, 2026, to February 7, 2026, Mayorstone Avenue (L-1003) will be closed from junction R445 Cratloe Road to Mayorstone Drive junction (L-10032). With Cratloe Road (R445) to Mayorstone Upper (L-10028) to Mayorstone Drive (L-10032) to Shelbourne Road (R464) being the designated detours. This is to facilitate the TUS Moylish to City Active Travel Scheme.
From January 12, 2026, to January 16, 2026, Knockanea (L-50962) from its junction with the N24 to its junction with the L-5096, will be closed. Having diversions through the R513 and the N24. This closure is to facilitate the installation of a new water main.
