The tallies are suggesting that independent candidate Catherine Connolly will be elected as the tenth President of Ireland.
Ballot boxes have been open across the country since 9am this morning and the first count for each constituency is expected in the early afternoon.
Supporters for Catherine Connolly including Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy and Social Democrats TD Sinead Gibney when speaking with RTÉ have said the results are exciting and are predicting a sizeable victory for Connolly.
According to RTÉ, as of 11am, there was 2,132 spoiled votes in the count centre in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare which is where the constituencies of Limerick City and County are being counted. There were also three miraculous medals found in a ballot box from Galbally.
