The clinics will take place on October 30.

Limerick kids will have the chance to be the next Antoine Griezmann or Julian Alvarez as Atletico Madrid are set to host football clinics at the University of Limerick later this month.

The clinics, which take place on October 30, offer kids born between 2011 and 2017 the chance to train with official Atletico Madrid coaches and immerse themselves in the training methodology of the club.

The Astro Pitches on the campus will entertain the clinics with a €40 fee for each child.

The academy currently holds over 1,500 players across five countries, with 200 currently enrolled in their Dublin base.

Kids attending the clinics will receive coaching from Atlético Madrid coaches, comprehensive training based on Atleti methodology, formative talks and audio-visual presentations, and an Atlético Madrid training kit.

Officially known as Atlético de Madrid Academy Dublin, the club set up its stall in Ireland in 2023 after noticing a gap in the market to unearth some of Ireland’s finest young footballers.

Ireland has a niche yet interesting history of La Liga players, with Limerick’s own Steve Finnan playing for RCD Espanyol near the twilight of his career.

John Joe Patrick Finn spent seven years at Getafe between the academy and senior squads, departing earlier this year.

The club currently sit in 5th in La Liga, and 10th in the Champions League. They will travel to North London to take on Arsenal next Tuesday night in Matchday 3 of the competition.
