The Padel Federation of Ireland (PFI) have announced that the first-ever Irish Padel Open will take place here in Limerick between November 10-16 at Padel LK.
Padel has experienced a rapid rise to popularity in recent times. The arrival of the Open to Limerick is a watershed moment for the sport in Ireland. The event, which is just around the corner, is an official stop of the Cupra FIP Tour. The global padel tour is sanctioned by the International Padel Federation (FIP).
Naomi Nicholl, President of the Padel Federation of Ireland, proudly said, “This landmark tournament at Padel LK will bring some of the world’s top padel players to Irish soil, providing Irish players with a unique opportunity to debut on the global stage, and allowing Irish fans to experience elite-level action up close.
“This marks a defining moment for Irish padel, reflecting our growing reputation and ambition within the global padel community, and advancing our mission to continue to grow the sport nationwide as both a competitive and community activity.”
Limerick entrepreneur and founder of Padel LK Peter Brazil was thrilled at the announcement of the event. He said “I’m absolutely delighted that Padel LK will host the first ever Padel Irish Open. Since day one we have had very big ambitions for the facility and this event is a stepping stone for not only us, but for the sport across Ireland. I’m looking forward to working with the PFI and ForeFront on delivering a world-class event.”
Padel LK opened its doors in January of this year. It has provided a world-class space for both new and experienced padel enthusiasts to enjoy the sport. Registration for the event has closed, with the winner set to take home €10,000.
