This weekend in the National League, it was just the ladies who suited up for action as both men’s sides had a week off due to the international break.
Limerick Sport Huskies are the new league leaders of the Domino’s Women’s Division One after defeating Dublin Raiders 78-61 to reach 5-2 through seven games. It puts them ahead of Cleveland Rockets, who do not play this weekend. The duo of Clara Gomez and Shelby Harmeyer continued to lead Huskies as they combined for 44 points. For Raiders, it is a second straight defeat to a Limerick side after losing to the Celtics last weekend. The loss sees Raiders slip to 10th with a record of 2-5.

For the other Treaty side, Limerick Celtics, who had a few players short of 100% due to the cold bug currently sweeping the nation, suffered their third loss of the season after losing 61-49 to Swords Thunder. Two single-point quarters for Celtics gave Swords a 30-point lead heading into the final quarter. A 22-4 run in the final 10 minutes got Celtics into a more respectable scoreline, but by then, the damage had already occurred. The loss for Celtics leaves them in fourth with a 4-3 record; however, Kilkenny Stars have a game in hand under them at 4-2. For Swords, the victory gives them their second win of the season and lifts them off the bottom of the table.
Next weekend, all four Limerick sides are in action as cup fever takes over as we reach the quarter-final stage of the National Cups. In the Men’s Super League Cup, Limerick Celtics host St. Vincent’s in Crescent College on Saturday evening. Limerick Sport Eagles travel north to UUJ to face Ulster University on Saturday in the Men’s Division One Cup,
In the Women’s Division One National Cup, both Huskies and Celtics head to the capital with Celtics taking on Moy Tolka Rovers in Tolka and Huskies going to Clondalkin to play Abbey Seals Dublin Lions with both games also on Saturday.
