Former Treaty United CEO Ciara McCormack could be set to return to the boardroom just as soon as she left as the former Ireland international has been linked to potential investment in Dundalk FC.
Despite stepping down from her post just last weekend, Sean Rogers of the Irish Independent revealed on Tuesday that McCormack “has been in talks with new Dundalk FC majority owner Chris Clinton in recent weeks about a possible investment in the Oriel Park side”.
Clinton became majority shareholder earlier this month when he acquired the 65% stake previously held by local barrister John Temple to bring his total shareholding in the club to 85%.
The Lilywhites bounced back from last year’s liquidation scare to secure promotion back to the Premier Division in Temple’s brief but successful year-long stint as chairperson.
“With a deal understood to be progressing, the Vancouver woman could be in line to join the club’s new management board which Ohio-based Clinton has been working on putting together,” Rogers added.
McCormack made history in October 2023 by becoming the first female CEO of a League of Ireland club and departed the role after both the men’s and women’s sides enjoyed their most successful seasons to date in 2025.
While the statement from Treaty failed to mention McCormack’s immediate plans, it was apparent from the two parties’ parting words that the split was amicable.
“I am incredibly proud of what we achieved together during a transformative period for Treaty United,” McCormack said.
“Professionalising the club, securing investment, strengthening financial and governance foundations, securing the long-term Markets Field lease, and seeing our senior teams and academy players reach new heights have been tremendous highlights.
“I want to thank everyone at Tricor and the ownership group, the board, players, staff, volunteers, supporters, and the wider Limerick community for their passion and belief.
“I wish the club every success in its next chapter and will always remain a supporter.”
“We thank Ciara for her leadership, commitment, and belief in Treaty United,” The board added. “She leaves the club on a stronger footing and with a clear path forward.”
“We are grateful for her support during this transition and for the foundation she has helped establish.”
