On a Baltic Wednesday evening, Nenagh and UL Bohemian’s came head-to-head at Bohs’ home turf in Annacotty.

Nenagh were coming off the back of an emphatic win vs Dolphins RFC and were looking to build on that performance.

However, it was the Bohs who inserted themselves early in the game, winning a penalty just three minutes in.

It was earned through some ferocious scrum work, which Bohs’ fly-half Robbie Widger cooly converted.

Just two minutes later Nenagh would be notch the try tally, after an excellently executed line out turned ruck saw Brehon O’Donnell dive over the line.

The early drama continued as the Bohs got their first try through their dominant scrum, which paved the opening for Harry Brown to touch it home between the two posts, leaving an easy conversion for his fly half.

The second quarter of the match became a scrappy affair where handling errors were killing both team’s attacks before they could really get going.

It was the Bohs, however, who began to pile the pressure on late in the half.

They were rewarded for their efforts on the 40-minute mark when Ronan O’Connor made a Gibson-Park-esque read to intercept the pass to the flank and run clean through for the try, ending the half in style to leave it 17-5 to Bohs.

Nenagh would be the team to strike first in the second half when Cillian McNamara burst through the Bohs line to bring them back into the game.

The following ten minutes saw Widger receive two more penalties on a plate for him to increase his tally to 13 for the match.

This, however, is where Bohs’ joy comes to an end.

Two tries in a matter of minutes turned the game on its head, with the latter coming from a majestic Sam Cusack solo run to overturn the deficit.

Nenagh claimed their third try in succession 5 minutes later through a well-timed offload by Cusack into Alex Quinn.

A late comeback saw Bohs get to within a point, but it was too little too late as Nenagh managed to hold on with a final score of 31 to 30.

This result leaves still Bohs without first win of the season, while it makes back-to-back wins for the Tipperary side.
