Popular music venue Dolan’s will host an event inspired by the hit TV series ‘Heated Rivalry’. The ‘Heated Rivalry Club’ event will take place on Friday, April 17, in Dolan’s, where DJs will play a mix of the most popular songs from the show’s soundtrack as well as all the best pop/club anthems from the 2000s and the 2010s.
Heated Rivalry, which follows the love story of Russian and Canadian ice hockey players Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, took the internet by storm following its release on HBO Max and Now TV.
Containing six episodes, the show follows the forbidden attraction between these two men as they navigate their complicated feelings towards each other, both as rivals on the ice and keeping their relationship a secret from the public eye. The show has gained acclaim across the globe, with fans praising the storytelling, which challenges the portrayal of heteronormative ideals in relationships on television.
Following the success of this show on the international stage, there has been more talk at home surrounding ‘Ár gCluiche Féin’, an Irish language short film that follows a similar premise, based around two gay GAA players who struggle to keep their relationship a secret, much like Shane and Ilya in ‘Heated Rivalry’.
The first season of ‘Heated Rivalry’ is based on a book of the same name, which was published in 2019 by Canadian author Rachel Reid as part of her ‘Game Changers’ series.
The hit series, starring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie as its leading men, has been greenlit for a second season, which is expected to air in April 2027.
Tickets for this event are available through Dolan’s website www.dolans.ie. Doors open at 10:00 p.m. sharp, and the event will conclude at 2:30 a.m. This is a standing-only event and is strictly for over-18s.
