Limerick has a variety of events coming up this weekend, all in celebration of women for this year’s International Women’s Day, which takes place this Sunday, March 8.

If you are an ABBA fan, you won’t want to miss the ABBA Sisters Tribute Show on Friday, March 6. The event is taking place at the Castletroy Park Hotel, Limerick.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a four-course meal alongside entertainment from the ABBA Sisters Tribute Show. Funds raised will support Clare’s Wish Foundation, with tickets priced at €65 available on Eventbrite.

For any fitness enthusiasts, Yoga At Lough Gur could be the event for you this weekend. All age groups are welcome for a calming beginner’s session. The event is being held at Lough Gur Visitor Centre tomorrow morning, Friday, March 6, at 10am.

Anyone who is curious to try golfing should consider the Golf Taster Session for Women & Girls this Saturday, March 7, at 11am. It is an hour-long golf lesson, teaching basic techniques, such as chipping, pitching and putting.

Games such as Nearest the Pin and Bowls Golf are also included, and all necessary equipment will be provided. It is teeing off at Rathbane Golf Course, and entry is free for all participants.

Rathkeale is holding its own International Women’s Day Celebration on Friday, March 6, at 11am. It is set to be a vibrant community march through the town to celebrate the achievements, strength and voices of women and girls everywhere.

After the march, everyone is welcome to continue the celebrations at the Rathkeale House Hotel, where students from the local schools will showcase their talents. This promises to be an uplifting morning of unity, creativity and community spirit, beginning at The Square, Rathkeale.

Ormston House is partnering with STARLING to curate a programme of film, workshops, and live performances entitled The Crone, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2026.

The programme begins at 2pm on Saturday, March 7, with a workshop by Synthesize Her. This will be followed by a screening of works by Irish surrealist filmmaker Flora Kerrigan and a performance by Shirani Bolle.

Films by No Wave legend Vivienne Dick are featured as well as performances by Bea McMahon and Síoda. Admission is free, and booking is not required. For more information, visit their website here.
