Architectural historian and activist Emma Gilleece will launch her new book, This Modern Love, at the University of Limerick this Tuesday.

THE PUBLICATION explores buildings and construction projects from across Ireland during the 20th century and builds on Gilleece’s popular 100 Buildings series for RTÉ Culture.

Guest speakers at the launch will include Peter Carroll, Head of the UL’s School of Architecture and an award-winning architect, alongside acclaimed architect, curator, educator and furniture designer Simon Walker.

A pre-launch talk will take place at 5pm in the Main Studio Space (CG-042) at UL’s School of Architecture, with the book launch commencing at 6pm.

The publication was supported through funding from the National Built Heritage Service.

Tuesday’s launch has been organised by O’Mahoney’s booksellers, an independent Limerick bookshop.

Emma Gileece is a Limerick-born architect and has contributed extensively to radio, television, and press pieces on Ireland’s architect.

She previously served as Deputy Editor of Architecture Ireland.
