The Treaty City has long been a melting pot of musical talent, with legends like The Cranberries and Johnny Duhan just some of the notable acts to find their feet locally. As the nights grow longer, there is no better way to experience the true culture of Limerick than by attending local shows. So, we’ve got you covered with a gig guide for an exciting weekend of music.

The weekend starts with a bang on Friday, with some of the hottest Irish rappers taking over the city. Curtisy brings his effortless flows to Dolan’s Kasbah Social Club at 9pm in what will be a performance to remember. The show kicks off the Irish leg of the Dublin rapper’s tour, following a successful stint in the United Kingdom.

For fans of underground hip-hop, Gavin Da Vinci will perform his exciting new project, Folklore, in the Record Room at 8 pm. The Tipperary native will be accompanied by several of Limerick’s hottest artists, such as Hazey Haze, Harry Kelly, and JaBro. Tickets for this one are just €9.55 – a great value gig for the cost-conscious.

There is more thrilling music to consume on Saturday. The Irish Chamber Orchestra will play a 30th anniversary concert in the University Concert Hall at 7:30 pm. They describe the performance as “a celebration of place, of people, and of the music that brings us together”. This beautiful act is the perfect introduction to classical music and is not one to be missed.

Qween call themselves “Europe’s most authentic Queen tribute”. Truth be told, there might not be a better way to spend your Saturday night than rocking out to the classics in Dolan’s Warehouse. And fans seem to agree, as this event is completely sold out. The gig starts at 8 pm and is expected to provide nonstop funk until midnight.

Sunday is often a quiet night when it comes to music. But that cannot be further from the truth this weekend. The Glin Trad Week kicks off with a concert in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 7 pm. With performances from internationally renowned piper Paddy Keenan and 2021 TG4 Gradam Ceoil winner Angelina Carberry, this trek might just be worth it.

Whatever you’re into, there is more than enough music to fall in love with this weekend in Limerick. You can find more information about all upcoming gigs here.
