There will be no shortage of things to do in Limerick this spooky season, with the programme of events for this year’s Halloween in Limerick celebration officially announced.

Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) is conjuring up its “biggest Halloween in Limerick celebration to date,” working with local artists, communities, and creative organisations to deliver “a month of frights, folklore family fun, and festivities”.

Among the programme’s highlights are the “towering mythical figure” Con Mór, who will come to life on select nights at King John’s Castle, as well as Lumen Street Theatre’s Fire and Shadows Procession.

Standing at over 23 feet tall, Macnas creation Con Mór will “come alive” on October 18, 19 and 26, as well as November 1 and 2, in what LCCC describes as “a spectacular display of sound, light, and smoke, transforming the medieval courtyard into a realm of myth and magic”.

The streets of Limerick will also be transformed as Lumen Street Theatre showcase their talents on Saturday, October 25, with a parade of illuminated mythological beings.

A spokesperson for the council added: “A highlight of Samhain: Limerick’s Hallowe’en Festival, this sinister spectacle is sure to capture the imagination of audiences both young and old.”

The cauldron of events “bubbling up” across the city and county also includes Morbid & Sons, a “macabre musical experience in a Victorian pop-up funeral shop”; Halloween in Lough Gur, where “ancient legends come alive under the autumn moon”; and Limerick Harvest Festival & City Pumpkin Patch, a “vibrant” harvest and Halloween celebration at the Milk Market.

Limerick will also be treated to “thrilling” fire performances in Newcastle West and Lough Gur with ROGU Firestorm, alongside events such as Barnagh Halloween Festival, Newcastle West Halloween Festival, and Halloween at the Hunt Museum.

Locals can also take part in the Samhain Tales by The Limerick Fireside event taking place in a range of venues across Limerick city and county.

The event entails “dramatic storytelling steeped in Limerick’s history and Samhain tradition”, with music, legends, and a Trick or Treat parade for children.

A spokesperson for the council said it is “delighted to support and promote dozens of additional community-led and independent events, ensuring there’s something for everyone this Halloween”.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, said: “Halloween in Limerick is a showcase of our creativity, culture, and community spirit. With this year’s expanded programme, we’re inviting everyone to experience the magic, mystery, and mischief that makes Limerick the true Home of Halloween.”

Príomh Chomhairleoir, Cllr Catherine Slattery, added: “This year’s celebration is a fantastic opportunity to support local artists, performers, and communities while giving families unforgettable experiences. From fire shows to folklore, there’s something for everyone.”

Dr Pat Daly, director general of LCCC, commented: “The additional investment in Halloween 2025 matches our commitment to growing Limerick’s reputation as a cultural and event destination. The Council-led and community events will bring people together, celebrating rich traditions of Samhain in new and exciting ways.”

A spokesperson for LCCC said: “Beyond the scares there is live music, comedy, and sporting action, so whether you’re seeking spooky thrills or simply looking to make the most of the mid-term break you can get planning your perfect Halloween at Limerick.ie/Halloween.”

The spokesperson added: “Halloween in Limerick 2025 is shaping up to be a truly unforgettable celebration of frights, folklore, fire, and fun.”
