LIMERICK’S Halloween Programme has been announced.

Limerick is preparing for a Halloween season filled with family fun, live performances and plenty of spooky surprises, as events take place across the city and county throughout October.

With Ireland’s ancient Samhain traditions at the heart of the celebrations, this year’s programme offers something for all ages. In Limerick city, families can take part in ‘Trick or Treat in the City’, running from October 24 to 31.

The Halloween trail will lead visitors from The Crescent on O’Connell Avenue to Arthur’s Quay Park, with storytelling, workshops, musical performances, and funfair rides along the route. Children can also create lanterns during the festival before entering the Lantern Competition on Halloween night.

Mystery banquet with folklore at its core

For those looking for something a little spookier, the Mystery Samhain Banquet promises an evening of Irish folklore, live entertainment and a seasonal three-course feast in a secret historic Limerick venue.

Guests will be guided by performers and storytellers before entering a transformed historic setting inspired by Irish mythology and local traditions.

The Limerick Harvest Festival at the Milk Market on Sunday, October 25, will bring together autumn traditions and Halloween spirit in a family-friendly celebration. Visitors can expect fire shows, circus activities and appearances including storyteller Eddie Lenihan and chef Keith Pigott.

Elsewhere, visitors can explore the spookier side of the city through the Limerick Civic Trust Halloween Experiences, featuring haunted tours with stories of ghosts, witches and vampires around some of the city’s most historic locations. At Lough Gur, a four-day Samhain celebration will combine folklore, history, and family activities from October 29 to November 1.

Halloween events suited to every seasonal celebrator

Whether it is the glow of a lantern, the telling of an old Irish legend or the excitement of a Halloween trail, Limerick has plenty to bring this Halloween season to life. With a wide range of events taking place across the county, this October promises to be a celebration of everything from ancient traditions to modern-day fun.
