The first of three magical Thursday evenings has already lit up the laneway beside Mother Macs, but there’s still time to catch the next two on December 11 and 18. This intimate corner of Limerick will be filled with the smooth, soulful sounds of a talented ensemble, turning holiday classics and festive favourites into an unforgettable season of music and merriment.
Step into the heart of Limerick for the Christmas Céilí, presented by Music Generation Clare. This lively open-air festive concert will fill Thomas Street with music on Saturday December 13, from 1pm to 3pm. Enjoy a sparkling line-up of distinguished traditional musicians, including Sinéad Mulqueen on concertina, Nora Casey on harp, Ronan O’Flaherty on fiddle, Shane Fahy on guitar and bodhrán, and Karen McMahon on concertina. Set to be an afternoon brimming with festive cheer, foot-tapping rhythms, and seasonal magic.
Take a magical stroll through Limerick this holiday season on the Classic Christmas Carol Trail, happening Friday December 19, and Saturday December 20. This magical, family-friendly event brings together traditional carol singing, street theatre, and festive cheer, inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the joy of Limerick at Christmas.
The trail begins at 6pm on the bandstand in People’s Park, where a carol group will fill the air with timeless favourites like Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Georgian-costumed actors and singers will lead audiences through the city, encouraging everyone to join in the singing along the trail. Lanterns and candlelight will softly illuminate the bandstand, evoking the warm charm of a Georgian-era Christmas gathering.
