The upcoming Fourth Year Day will take place in campus hotspot The Stables Club on Thursday,April 23.

Fourth Year Day is an opportunity  for final year students to celebrate the end of their last year attending University of Limerick. The tradition has been in place for the last 20 years.

In an exclusive to Limerick Voice,the staff looks back on the precious moments they have shared with departing students.

The general manager of The Stables Club, Patrick Moriarty, shares his thoughts as he anticipates the crowds for tomorrow.

“They’ve been here for four years”, he said “It’s just to give something back to the students.”

Manager Declan Collins joined the conversation recognising how much the Stables Club values their fourth years;

“We value our students, after four years being within The Stables Club, socialising and eating and everything else, we put aside a day for you, to say thank you.”

The festivities will start at 11am and will be held until late. Students can expect music, drinks a nice environment, good weather and t-shirts that they hand out every year with ‘Class of 2026’ printed on them.

Patrick is happy to announce that “We actually have one of our own bands, which are two fourth years that will play for an hour and a half tomorrow.”

A huge amount of organising has gone into preparing The Stables Club for the event. The general manager sees all the hard work in a positive light joking about beginning preparations “last September.”

The students are also preparing for tomorrow, with a buzz of excitement on campus. Fourth year student Marina Sánchez Díaz shared her perfect preparation tips, “I’m going to have a big breakfast and I’m going to try and get there early.”

Students are expecting a huge turnout, so arriving there in advance to get their spot is important as it fills up quite quickly before they block off the entrance.

Fourth year student, Katie McNamara shares her excitement; “It’s the last time fourth years are going to be together, seeing lots of people turning up and having fun would be good.”

The girls realise that this is a “celebration of their work over the last four years.”

Similarly, Patrick finishes saying, “It’s about celebrating four years of their lives.”

“I would tell any fourth year, if they can at all possible, to attend.”

As a final message to the fourth years ,“Pay your taxes now so we can have more fourth years next year,” jokes Declan.
