Emergency services rushed to the scene as staff were ordered to leave the premises following the security alert.

STAFF have evacuated from several media organisations across Ireland, including RTÉ, Newstalk, and the Irish Independent, following bomb threats received on Friday morning, November 6.

Among the many buildings evacuated was RTÉ’s Donnybrook campus in Dublin after the national broadcaster received a threatening email shortly before 9am.

The incident disrupted the broadcasting schedule, with the broadcaster switching to pre-recorded programmes as a precautionary measure.

In a statement, RTÉ explained that staff safety remains its priority, adding that normal broadcasting services would resume as soon as possible following consultation with the Gardaí.

The offices at Marconi House, which house Newstalk, Today FM, and other Bauer Media stations, were also evacuated. Other affected locations included The Irish Independent’s Dublin premises.

In a statement, An Garda Síochána confirmed to RTÉ that it was aware of threats made against media organisations in Ireland and across Europe.

The evacuation comes amid a series of security alerts involving bomb threats against airlines across Europe in recent days. At least 27 flights were affected by threats on Thursday, November 5, with some Aer Lingus and Ryanair services among those disrupted.

However, the identity of those responsible and whether the incidents are connected has not been independently established.

The situation raises wider concerns about the security of public infrastructure and the potential disruption of essential services through coordinated threats.

Media organisations play a vital role in ensuring the public has access to timely and accurate information, particularly during emergencies. The disruption to broadcasting during emergencies highlights the vulnerability of news services when the organisations responsible for delivering them become the targets of security threats.

Investigations are ongoing.
