Recent accounts filed by the private health network report a €25.1m increase.
DIRECTORS at Bon Secours Hospital in Limerick say this revenue increase is being ”driven by a significant increase in both inpatient and outpatient activity across the group.”
The large increase in revenue comes after significant pre-tax losses were reported while constructing the hospital. A pre-tax loss of €4.77m was reported in 2024 following a loss of €20.45m
In the report by Bon Secours, directors acknowledge that an impairment charge of €4.1m arose from the write-down of IT assets as well as administration.
High mobilisation costs are said to also be the reason why the deficit was severe.
These include administrative, staffing, and training costs.
The 170-bed hospital in Ballysimon, Castletroy, Limerick, has been a huge win for the Midwest, with it being the first acute hospital built in Ireland in nearly two decades, employing over 700 staff.
Bon Secours first opened the hospital in September 2025, joining locations in Cork, Galway, Dublin, Tralee and one in Limerick City Centre.
It was built in just under 26 months after the construction contracts were signed.
