An estimated €200,000 is to be spent by Limerick City and County Council on a park and side system that will be in place when the Ryder Cup comes to Adare in September 2027.

In tender documents related to the park and ride, it has identified several different sites for use, including Croagh North, Croagh South, Croagh West, Patrickswell Field & Racecourse and ‘Mackey.’ Those sites are identified to have cumulative parking spaces of 24,500.

The document also states that there is an additional site available and under construction in the event one of the other sites is required to be replaced.

Requirements for the parties tendering for the work include having experience in delivering events at the scale of the Ryder Cup. The documents state that the successful tenderer will work together with Limerick City and County Council to review the plans and layout.

Traffic management at entry, exit, and ticketing points, ticketing philosophy from Ryder Cup Europe and overall traffic management within the site are to be considered. The tenderer is also to provide personnel to manage each of the sites and to ensure minimum damage to the sites and existing land over the course of the event.

The successful tenderer is to engage with all necessary stakeholders including An Garda Siochána, the emergency services and transport providers to properly manage the event.

The scope of the project is subject to change and expansion, and the final fee will be adjusted to reflect these changes. As a result, the successful tenderer may be required to manage additional services relating to each park and ride site.

Event organisers are anticipating the seven-day event to attract approximately 60,000 people per day. The event is forecast to create a significant economic boost for Adare and the wider Limerick area, with shops and businesses already preparing.

Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry will hope to earn a spot once again on team Europe, led by captain Luke Donald who will be aiming to retain the trophy for a third consecutive time.

The highly anticipated event will take place in Adare Manor, from September 17 to 19, 2027. It will be the first time that the Ryder Cup has returned to Ireland since 2006, where it took place in The K Club in county Kildare.
