money launderingGardaí have made an arrest following the stabbing of a man in his 50s.

Gardaí have arrested four men as part of an intensified investigation into a firearm discharge that occurred earlier this year in the Hyde Avenue area of Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick City. The incident, which took place on Thursday 8 May 2025, saw a shot fired in a residential neighborhood, which prompted significant concern among local residents and triggered a major Garda operation.

Earlier today, Detectives attached to the Roxboro Road Garda Station carried out a coordinated series of follow-up searches across the south side of Limerick City. The search was supported by the Regional Armed Support Unit, the Divisional Drugs Unit, the Southern Region Dog Unit and the Divisional Search Team, highlighting the large scale and seriousness of the investigation.

During these searches, Gardaí recovered a double-barreled shotgun, along with suspected cannabis valued at approximately €17,000. Weighing scales and other items believed to be associated with the distribution of the drugs were also seized. All items are now undergoing forensic and technical analysis.

The four men arrested – two in their late teens and two in their 20’s – are being detained at Garda Stations across Co. Limerick under the provision of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Today’s arrests bring the total number detained in connection with the investigation to seven.

Gardaí say the investigations are currently ongoing.
