Difficult travelling conditions are to be expected, with disruption to outdoor events as the second storm of the season hits.

STORM Boelo is set to hit Limerick in the early hours of Saturday morning, bringing rain and high winds.

This is the second named storm in Ireland this year following Storm Austen, which passed over the country last Thursday evening.

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Limerick that will come into effect at 4am tomorrow and will end at 3pm.

A Status Yellow wind warning is also in place from 1pm Saturday until 12pm Sunday afternoon. Severe and damaging gusts are expected.

Met Éireann is also warning of the possibility of damage to homes and businesses with disruption and delays to public transport.

Difficult travelling conditions are to be expected as well as disruption to outdoor events and flooding.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, senior forecaster Gerry Murphy at Met Éireann said Storm Boelo will be a different storm to Storm Austen, as it will move to the north of the country.

“From after midnight tonight, we will see heavy rain developing in the west and that’s going to sweep quickly across the country, bringing very wet and windy weather as we go through tomorrow,” he said.
