The weekend has arrived again – a bank holiday, no less. The evenings are beginning to get colder and darker, but thankfully, the world of sports is only just heating up. Here’s my five picks for what sports to cosy up to on TV this weekend.
Munster V Connacht, Saturday 7.45, TG4
Munster have made an absolute stormer of a start to their URC campaign. Under Clayton McMillan, they’ve gone a perfect 4/4 in the URC so far, beating Scarlets, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and old foes Leinster.
They return to Thomond Park this weekend after last week’s exhibition at Croke Park, this time to face Connacht. Despite both sides missing their Ireland squad members, this could be a tasty encounter under the lights in Limerick.
Treaty United V Cobh Ramblers, Friday 7.45, LOITV
Play-off fever hits Limerick for the third time in five years, as Treaty United host Cobh Ramblers in the First Division playoff first leg.
Treaty lost three out of the four regular season games against the Cork-based side, however they will have a big and boisterous home crowd backing them on Friday night. The game will be available to view on LOITV.
Napoli V Inter Milan, Saturday 5.00, TNT1
Naple’s Diego Maradona Stadium is the venue for the pick of Italian football’s games this weekend, as champions Napoli host last year’s runners-up Inter Milan.
Antonio Conte’s Napoli side are savaged with injury. After suffering a heavy loss to PSV in the Champions League midweek, they’ll be looking to get back on track against Inter.
Ireland V Belgium, Friday 7.00, RTE2
Carla Ward’s Ireland team aim to return to Group A of the UEFA Nations League at the first attempt, as they take on Belgium in a playoff at the Aviva Stadium. This is a two-legged affair, with Ireland having to travel to Belgium for the return leg on Tuesday night.
Returning to Group A of the Nations League would, on paper, give the Girls in Green an easier path to qualifying to future major tournaments.
Club County Finals, 1.15 & 3.30 Sunday, TG4
It’s county final season, and while most of the 15 taking place this weekend will be available to view on Clubber, two are available to view for free on TG4 on Sunday.

At 1.15, Austin Stack Park is the venue for the Kerry SFC final, as Dingle take on Austin Stacks. Later on the same channel, we have Nenagh Eire-Og facing off against Loughmore-Castleiney in the Tipperary SHC final from Semple Stadium.
It’s going to be a fantastic weekend of TV viewing for the sports nut, folks.
