Munster Rugby and the IRFU have confirmed that Seán Edogbo will be promoted to the province’s senior squad next season on a two-year deal.
The Cobh native becomes the second ever player from the club to sign a senior contract with Munster, continuing on from his older brother – recent Ireland debutant Edwin.
The 21-year-old back rower played his age-grade rugby with Cobh Pirates and won a Munster Clubs Boys Under-18 Cup title in 2022.
Edogbo lined out with the Ireland Under-20s in the 2024 U-20 Men’s Six Nations and also featured in that summer’s World Rugby U-20 Championship.
He joined the Munster Rugby Academy in 2024, and toured South Africa with the Emerging Ireland squad that September.
Seán made his Munster debut against the Dragons in the BKT United Rugby Championship in January, and was named the player-of-the-match after an excellent performance.
In other Academy news, Ben O’Donovan has joined the squad from Canterbury on an 18-month deal.
The scrum-half represented New Zealand at age-grade level but is Irish-qualified through his mother.
