Treaty United recorded their first Women’s Premier Division win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Waterford FC at the Markets Field on yesterday afternoon.

Ciara Breslin bagged a brace of goals for Treaty who bounced back from their opening weekend loss to Shelboure in impressive fashion.

The win has moved Treaty up to sixth place in the league table with Galway United the only side to boast a 100% record after two series of fixtures.

Treaty opened the scoring in injury time of the first half when Waterford gave the ball deep in their own half, which let Madison McGuane ample time to slide into the box, where a critical Ciara Breslin rifled it in for her first.

Breslin then pounced to rebound Katie Lawlee’s saved shot to seal it for Laurie Ryan’s side in the 73rd minute.

Arguably the pick of Saturday’s goals came from Katie Jones two minutes later, when a long-ranged header found its way into the top left corner.

“It’s massive,” Ciara said about the win after the game.

“Especially in our first home game – a clean sheet and a win after last week means a lot.

Treaty were backed raucous crowd in attendance. with many young fans keeping players busy beyond the final whistle.

“It was lovely to see so many people there after, it was great to see all the autographs!”

Smiles all around

Treaty’s men’s side also claimed their first three points in a 2-0 win over Athlone Town at Markets Field on Friday.

The sides went into the break scoreless with the visitors having the best of the chances, but Ben Feeney broke the deadlock for Treaty after the restart.

A Cian Curtis penalty later in the game helped to settle the nerves of the home fans.

The Shannonsiders move off the foot of the table following the result.
