You could mistake the on-campus commotion as a rescheduled Rag Week – it was, in fact, End of Summer Fest. The three day long event ran from September 29 to October 1

Commencing at 3pm with a mechanical rodeo bull and a host of games led by the very enthusiastic DJ Ritchie, there wasn’t a moment of boredom for attendees.

The party continued on into the evenings with karaoke, musical chairs, and even an appearance from University of Limerick’s Music Society.

Patrick Moriarty, General Manager at the Stables Club, explained that they are attempting to cater for the vast number of students who are now commuting to UL from home.

“It’s a summer theme with music and games. What we have noticed here in the last, I suppose, year maybe, is more commuters to the college. So what we’re trying to do is to give the best of both worlds. We’re trying to give the commuters in the evening time, that they can enjoy a party atmosphere, plus later on at night, the same thing again.

But the fun doesn’t end there – Stables hosts a multitude of events throughout the academic year, from International Night on Friday, catered towards lonely exchange students, to EDM Tuesday for dance music fans.

We do as many events as we possibly can, not only ourselves, but also with our clubs and societies here in the university. We have organised for October with the UL Boxing Society, a night with five exhibition matches, with the boxing ring in the middle of the courtyard” continued Mr Moriarty.

End of Summerfest attracted newcomers to The Stables Club as computer science student Stephanie Dias Carvalho beamed “I’m having a good time here, the music is good, the vibes are up. Everyone’s active. I’m trying to win the free drinks voucher!”
