Alternative rock legends Pixies will grace Limerick for the first time as part of their 40th anniversary tour, with back-to-back outdoor concerts at King John’s Castle in 2026. The landmark gigs are two of just three appearances that the band will make in Ireland next year.

Following a rapid sellout of tickets for their initial May 31st show, the group announced a much welcomed second gig for June 1st, which also sold out in less than a day. Pixies’ last appearance in Ireland came back in August 2024.

Since forming in 1986, the Boston collective have established themselves as one of alternative rock’s most iconic bands. Pixies are comprised of famed vocalist Black Francis, lead guitarist Joey Santiago, drummer David Lovering, and bassist Emma Richardson.

In their glittering 40-year tenure, Pixies have released ten studio albums, with their most successful endeavour, Doolittle, selling over 1 million units worldwide. The band promises a “career-spanning set” that will allow fans to roll back the years through an ensemble of hits.

Acclaimed as inspiration for the likes of Nirvana and Radiohead, Pixies are the largest act to perform at King John’s Castle since Van Morrison in 2022, with successive sellout crowds expected to provide the Treaty City with a spectacular bank holiday weekend.

Promoter Mick Dolan hopes the historic shows will kick off an unforgettable summer of music in Limerick City. “We couldn’t think of a more iconic band to begin with. It’s going to be a night to remember”, he said.
