THE CULT classic musical The Rocky Horror Show will take to the stage in April 2027.
UL Musical Theatre Society have just announced they will be performing The Rocky Horror Show as their 2026/27 full-scale musical. The performance will take place in the TUS Millennium Theatre, from April 1 to April 3, 2027.
The fan favourite musical, written by Richard O’Brien, has captivated audiences around the world since the show debuted in 1973. “The Rocky Horror Show has protected rights, with only amateur university groups able to license and perform the show. We wanted to give people the opportunity to take part in a show that they would only be able to take part in when in college,” says Productions Chairperson Cara Davitt.
The Rocky Horror Show follows Brad and Janet as their car breaks down on the way to visit an old friend. When the pair approach a nearby mansion for help, they’re taken on a sensual, crazy and out of this world adventure filled with outrageous and devious characters.
“A lot of thought and deliberation from our committee happened before we chose the show. The Rocky Horror Show is such a fun show that our society is excited to undertake.”
The announcement has been met with huge excitement from society members and fans alike, with production team call-outs and cast auditions opening up over the coming weeks. “It has always been UL Musical Theatre Society’s goal to have an environment of hard work while keeping it fun and making rehearsals enjoyable, and this has always come across on stage.”
With incredibly iconic costume and hairstyling, vibrant set designs and a multitude of musical numbers, the society will be sharing details and behind the scenes of their hard work bringing the show to life over the next few months. “People can look forward to seeing a great show and people having a great time performing it.”
UL Musical Theatre Society’s highly anticipated production of The Rocky Horror Show will run from April 1 to April 3, in the TUS Millenium Theatre.
