Irish retail chain Born Clothing has announced the upcoming closure of all 15 of its stores, including its Limerick branch.
The company, which opened its first store in Newtownsmith in Galway in 2009, announced the news in an Instagram post yesterday.
It said that “after 16 wonderful years in business it was time to say goodbye.
“We want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support over the years – for shopping with us, supporting us, and being part of our journey.
“To our wonderful team thank you for being the heart and soul of our business. Your loyalty and dedication will always be appreciated.
“As we close this chapter our closing down sale begins tomorrow in stores, with up to 70% off everything. With love to everyone in Born.”
Born opened in Parkway Shopping Centre on the Dublin Road in October 2012, and had 12 employees upon their launch.
The Born website has issued a statement detailing that the shop will no longer accept gift cards or credit notes.
The retailer has stated that returns prior to the liquidation sale will not be refunded.
The High Court appointed provisional liquidators to the group on Tuesday.
The court heard that the business had faced mounting difficulties due to a combination of factors, including the impact of the pandemic, the recent increase in the national minimum wage, and high business rates.
It has been reported that over 100 staff connected to Born will lose their jobs.
