The University of Limerick campus was transformed into a hub of festive activity last week as the annual Christmas Market returned. Offering students and staff a welcome break from the intensity of exam season.
The market was a fantastic opportunity for small or new businesses to make their mark and their presence known in the student community.
Running throughout the day were stalls from Gems Coffee, SOS Cookies, Fíor Jewellery, Fire Pizza, Whack Vintage, and The Colourpop Brunette.
The highlight of the event was the Christmas lights switch-on at 4:30 p.m, which marked the start of the holiday season.
Live music performances added to the festive spirit, drawing crowds despite the typical Irish drizzle.
The market wasn’t just about celebration, it also supported local causes.
Milford Hospice was on-site collecting donations, reinforcing the community’s commitment to charitable giving during the holiday season.
Bringing the market to UL fosters a very lively community spirit, getting students to gather together and create a window of peace during the stressful examinations period.
The live music and Christmas light ceremony added to festive spirits, that not even the drizzly Irish weather could dampen. The event also helped connect first year students to the university and created a great sense of belonging.
As the semester winds down, the Christmas Market has become a cherished tradition, offering a moment of joy before exams and the holiday break.
Attendees expressed enthusiasm for future markets, cementing the event as a highlight of the academic calendar.
