Community of Moyross rally around family of missing Limerick woman.
A MAN was yesterday confirmed to have been arrested for the suspected murder of Carrie Mullane (39).
The 39-year-old mother of four was last seen travelling to Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, on October 10.
In a statement on November 3, the PSNI confirmed that a 35-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of her murder.
The sister of Ms Mullane travelled to Northern Ireland today, November 5, to liaise with local Police investigations regarding her disappearance. Detectives continue to investigate the suspected murder of Ms Mullane in Northern Ireland.
In its latest update on Wednesday, November 4, the PSNI confirmed that a court granted the detectives an additional 36 hours to question the arrested man. No further information has been released since.
Ms Mullane’s son, Jayden, shared online this week, “Hopefully a text soon. Love you mam.”
The family continue to await answers following her disappearance almost four weeks ago, leaving them and the community of Moyross deeply concerned. What began as a missing-person investigation has since developed into a suspected murder investigation.
“Please God bring my beautiful sister home, she wouldn’t hurt a fly,” Sandra, Ms Mullane’s sister, pleaded on Facebook last week.
Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch said her disappearance is “extremely out of character”, explaining that family and friends were accustomed to hearing from her almost daily.
“Life hasn’t been easy for her, but we love you, Car,” her sister continued in another post.
The distress surrounding Carrie’s disappearance has been reflected across Moyross and has prompted an outpouring of concern from family, friends, and the wider Limerick community.
On Tuesday evening, November 3, members of Carrie’s family and the Moyross community gathered for a vigil to show their support. Her son thanked those who attended, expressing his gratitude for the solidarity shown to his family.
The Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the Wellington Road or Trasna Park areas between 8.30pm and 10pm on October 10 to call 999 or 112.
