Treaty United have appointed experienced sports executive Ian McMahon as their new Managing Director, a move the club says will play a crucial role in shaping its long-term future
McMahon brings more than 30 years of international leadership experience across football, rugby, equestrian sport and multisport organisations. McMahon’s résumé includes senior positions at Doncaster Rovers, Hull City, the American Youth Soccer Organization, Hong Kong RFU and the Professional Jockeys Association. He also spent the early parts of his career as a professional footballer turning out for Oldham Athletic and Rochdale AFC.
At Treaty, McMahon will assume responsibility for all operational and strategic areas of the club. His directive will include driving commercial growth and strengthening financial sustainability. He’ll aim to enhance match day operations and deepen the club’s presence within the community. All while supporting the team’s broader organisational development.
In a statement, Treaty United’s board said McMahon’s appointment comes at a crucial time for the club. “Ian brings a rare combination of global sports leadership experience, commercial expertise and community-minded values. Treaty United is entering a period of meaningful evolution, and Ian is exceptionally well placed to strengthen the club’s structure, deepen its presence in the region, and support our football staff as we continue to drive competitive standards forward,” the board said.
McMahon expressed his excitement at joining the Shannon side club at a pivotal time in its growth.
“I am honoured to join Treaty United FC at such an important moment in its development. The passion for football in Limerick is extraordinary, and the potential ahead is significant. I look forward to working with our staff, football leadership, partners, supporters and the wider community to build a club that thrives both on and off the pitch. Together we can create outstanding supporter experiences, grow our regional impact, and build a sustainable long-term future.”
The club’s ownership group, Tricor Pacific Capital, also reaffirmed its commitment to the project. They described the appointment as a key element in strengthening Treaty United’s long-term foundations.
McMahons arrival signals an ambitious next phase for Treaty as the club looks to continue its steady progression. It follows the news of the departure of Ciara McCormack as CEO of the club at the weekend.
