Treaty United’s crucial monster derby versus Cork City has now been confirmed to be played on Monday, May 25th at 7:45 pm, the League of Ireland has confirmed.
The game was due to be played earlier this month but had to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions which deemed the game unsafe to play.
The Shannonsiders will be looking to build on the point they picked up last weekend in Tralee against Kerry FC, where Cian Curtis scored and was named in the team of the week.
UCD travel down to Markets Field this Friday at 7:45 pm where Treaty will be looking to climb from the bottom of the table with a win against the Dublin side. The college side are in fine form, however currently sitting in second place behind leaders Cork City.
A win for Tommy Barrett’s side could see them potentially leapfrog Kerry, depending on how “The Kingdom” fare against Longford Town on Saturday night.
Fan frustrations
Treaty have struggled with only one win in ten so far this season. Their only win, which came against mid-table Athlone Town, hasn’t given fans much hope.
The red and whites have only picked up four draws to pair with their five losses, resulting in a disappointing response to last year’s playoff push.
With pressure mounting to get back up to speed, some fans have cast doubts over Barrett as the right man for the job.
“I turn out pretty much every home game and went to most away games last year, but there hasn’t been much to cheer about this year,” Conor Cousins, an avid Treaty fan, said to Limerick Voice.
“We’ve lost a lot of players from last year and the money isn’t there. If only we had gotten promotion last year, maybe some of the players would have stuck around.
“You can really see the difference in quality this year and I’m not sure Barrett is the right man to lead us there.”
