Treaty Women play final game of the season before Limerick FC return.

TREATY United Women led DLR Waves 3-0 at half-time in their final game under the Treaty United name, with Katie Lawlee and Caroline Penner putting the hosts in control.

The fixture was moved from the Markets Field to the all-weather pitch at Aisling Annacotty just an hour before kick-off, as Storm Boelo brought heavy rain and high winds. A final pitch inspection deemed the Markets Field unplayable, forcing the late change of venue, with kick-off taking place at 7pm instead.

Lawlee opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 24th minute before Penner struck twice, in the 29th and 39th minutes, to give Laurie Ryan’s side a commanding 3-0 lead at half-time.

DLR Waves mounted a late response, with Amber Cullen pulling a goal back in the 82nd minute before substitute Siún Murdiff added a second in the 89th. However, Treaty held on to secure victory in their final game under the Treaty United name.

Looking ahead to a new era

Treaty entered the final fixture sixth in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division table on 33 points, following a dramatic 3-1 victory over Waterford the previous weekend. That result saw Treaty score three times in the final ten minutes to secure their ninth league win of the campaign.

Ryan took charge ahead of the 2026 season and has been confirmed to remain as manager for 2027, as the club prepares to return to the Limerick FC name. The final fixture marks the end of the Treaty United identity for the senior women’s side, with a new chapter set to begin next season.

There has also been individual recognition for the club, with Madison McGuane and Lawlee both named in the PFAI Women’s Team of the Year and nominated for the PFAI Young Player of the Year award. The winner will be announced at the PFAI awards ceremony on 21 November.

Elsewhere in the league

Shamrock Rovers came from behind to defeat Bohemians 2-1, while Wexford recorded a 4-0 victory over Waterford. Athlone Town beat Cork City 4-2, with Galway United set to face Shelbourne and Sligo Rovers taking on Peamount United in Sunday’s remaining fixtures to conclude the league campaign.

Keep an eye on the Limerick Voice for the latest signings and announcements as the club prepares for its return as Limerick FC in 2027.
