A late equaliser from Bohemians’ Roisin McGovern dampened what was an amazing senior debut for 16-year-old Ruby Linnane in Treaty United’s final home game of the 2025 season.

The teenage shotstopper was on course for a clean sheet until a late Aoibhe Brennan corner met McGovern, whose well-placed header hit the bottom-right corner in the 91st minute of the game.

It was a baptism of fire for the academy graduate, who was listed as a substitute up until as late as sixty minutes before kick-off.

Linnane made a super save in the 13th minute to mark her arrival on the scene.

It took until the 70th minute for Markets Field to see another highlight in what was largely an uneventful match but what a highlight it was.

Ciara Breslin both started and ended the attack as her through ball to Katie Lawlee was soon returned to her feet just outside the box, for which Bohs keeper Rachael Kelly could only get a fingertip on before it whizzed in the net.

The draw is a bitter pill to swallow for the girls, who hoped to claim revenge on the Dublin outfit for eliminating them in the the FAI Cup semi-finals last month.

But it must be said how much the team has progressed this year, especially with both such a young squad (Breslin and Linnane both in Year 1 as pros) and the recent turmoil with management.

It was interim boss Dave Rooney’s first game in the dugout following Sean Russell’s resignation as head coach on Monday.

The 42’s Emma Duffy reported that Russell stepped down due to a lack of clarity around his future at the club after just one season in charge. First-team coach Craig Madigan also left the club with the former Limerick FC player.

The breakup comes as a surprise, as Russell secured comfortable First Division survival along with procuring the side’s record points tally this season.

But new man Rooney can feel proud of his team bouncing back from Russell’s last game at the wheel —  a 6-0 defeat away to Peamount Town they’d quickly like to get forget.

But this afternoon will be remembered for a different reason — a moment Ruby Linnane, her family and her Carelon Academy teammates won’t soon forget.

Treaty United play their final League of Ireland Premier Division game against Waterford FC on Saturday, October 11th at 5pm at The RSC.
